When we got to the mine we did some activities where we split up into groups. For one activity we had to take photos like what happened in the book "The Mine's Afire" which we are reading in class. When we went with the other teacher we went for a walk on the track around the mine site. We noticed some of the mine entrances, the coke ovens, the memorial for the Brunner Mine Disaster and the brickworks.

What was your favourite activity from our visit? I enjoyed watching you dress up for the photos and also the acting activity where you mimed scenes from the book. This really made our class novel come alive for me. What a sad time it would have been for the people of Brunnerton.
